Hi everyone

Has anyone tried Gabapentin for pain relief? Doc has just changed my tramadol to this to try and get on top of the pain, without side effects but after a week of taking it, I'm not sure if it is actually working, and not sure if I should give it a bit longer before I give up on it.

Anyone any ideas/ help? Confused

Adrienne

hi Adrienne,

I don't take Gabapentin but I know a few people on here take it so I'm sure someone will see it and tell you how they find it for pain.
I think it may take longer then just a week to start working on pain although I'm not certain.
I hope it does work for you soon.

A friend of mine has Gabapentin for Fibromyalgia, and she finds it helps a lot.

Hello Adrienne,

I am on Gabapentin. I take 3 pills a day- 1 in the morning and 2 at night about 1 hr before bed.

I find the side effect only strikes at night- it makes me giddy and I struggle to co-ordinate movement but it stops me screaming with the nerve pain in the night and waking everyone up. So I make sure I go to the loo before I have it or it will be a drunken looking swagger down the hall in me jarmies!

PLus, in the middle of the night I am convinced my legs are on fire and I am franticly looking for the flames- with the gabapentin this has almost totally stopped.

I do get twingey nerve pain but nothing like it was without the gabapentin.

I had to build the dose over 3 wks. it really started working well by the end of wk 4.
